Music Review: Alessia Cara - Scars To Your Beautiful

Should we be skinny or have more curves? Should we be tall or short?. Nowadays a lot of people are trying to follow the beauty standards that other people create, but every one is beautiful just the way they are.

Alessia Cara is a canadian singer and songwriter of 22 years old. In 2016 she released a song called "Scars To Your Beautiful" in her album "Know-It-All". This song is directed at people who don't feel comfortable in their own body because of the society and the beauty stereotypes. Society criticize the body of others like their weight, their shape, their scars that some of us have and a lot of other things. In this song she says that we are all unique and that our imperfections are what make us perfect, and that there are so many kinds of beauty.

She also talk about inner beauty and self-love. There is a part on chorus that says "You should know you're beautiful just the way you are. And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart." Here she is saying that you don't have to change yourself just for meet the expectations of the others. It's impossible be beautiful for everyone because beauty comes in different looks, shapes, sizes and colors.

I think that this song is so powerful and true because a lot of people, not just girls, are suffering for how their body is and for not being like the society say that we have to be. But if the world doesn't like how you are or how you look then they should change their perspective, you don't have to change yourself. Nobody has the right to say and decide who is or is not pretty.
